About HaulerMath
HaulerMath is a free toolkit for the people who actually run the trucks — owner-operators, small-fleet dispatchers, and freight brokers who need to know the numbers before they accept a load.
Why we built it
Most "trucking profit calculators" online are gated lead-gen forms or factoring-company promos. The math is the same math every driver does on a notepad in a truck stop — there's no reason it should be locked behind an email signup. HaulerMath puts the formulas online, keeps them current with live diesel data, and stays free.
What's on the site
- Cost per mile — true CPM across fixed and variable costs.
- Load profit calculator — rate vs. cost, deadhead-adjusted.
- Fuel surcharge calculator — live DOE diesel index.
- Driver pay calculator — CPM vs. percentage vs. salary.
- Break-even rate per mile — the floor below which you lose money.
- Broker lookup & safety check — FMCSA-backed records.
- Freight lane pages — market notes, fuel notes, and deadhead risk for 60+ US corridors.
Our data sources
We pull from public, authoritative sources. No black-box pricing.
- U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) — weekly on-highway diesel prices by PADD region.
- FMCSA / SAFER — carrier and broker safety, authority, and insurance status.
- U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — driver wage benchmarks.
- Federal & state DOT — IFTA fuel-tax rates, weigh stations, and permit data.
Who runs this
HaulerMath is built and maintained by a small team that has worked in dispatch, freight brokerage, and small-fleet operations. We are not a factoring company, a load board, or a broker — we don't sell freight. We make tools.
Disclaimer
Every calculator output is an estimate. Real-world numbers depend on your actual costs, contract terms, and lane conditions. Always verify against your own books before making rate or operational decisions.
