What you need to file Form 2290
- EIN (not SSN) — must be at least 2 weeks old
- VIN for each taxable vehicle
- Taxable gross weight per vehicle
- First-use month per vehicle
Stamped Schedule 1
You can't renew tags without a stamped Schedule 1 as proof of payment. E-filing returns it within minutes; mail filing takes 4–6 weeks.
