How this comparison works
- Total miles = loaded miles + deadhead miles. Every rate per mile shown uses total miles, so deadhead can't hide.
- Truck operating cost = total miles x your operating cost per mile + tolls, lumper, and other trip costs. Fully loaded business cost adds overhead, owner pay, tax reserve, and this load's factoring fee.
- Profit = offered rate - fully loaded business cost. Margin is that profit as a share of the rate.
- Profit per hour only appears when you enter trip time. When every load has trip time, the best-by-your-numbers pick is ranked by the hour instead of by the mile.
- Break-even rate is the rate that leaves zero profit on this trip. The minimum rate is what you'd need to hit the margin you set, after factoring.
